None of us were taught how to be happy.

Most of us learned that ‘to feel’ was a sign of weakness and that feelings were most unwelcome.

Parents, teachers, and other caregivers saw us crying and told us that we were fine. They saw us angry and told us to shut it down. They say us excited and urged us to be quiet. Not for us, but for them.

They couldn’t be present with their own feelings, so they couldn’t be present for yours.

But at some point, some of us begin to question what we were taught. We reach a breaking point where faking it for the comfort of others is no longer tolerable and we either begin to break through, or break down. This is not everyone.

You’re different. You’re waking up. You want a life that feels more real, vibrant, and fulfilling.

You don’t believe that you have to just take what life is dishing out; you believe that you make an impact in your own life - that you play a vital role in the story of your life. And you’re right.

"Curving back on myself, I create again and again." - the Bhagavad Gita

When we become aware of our programming, our unconscious thought patterns, our unhealthy behaviors, the discomfort that leads to dis-ease… we can begin to make the changes that support us in living more fully.

Regardless of what society says, you deserve to feel alive, to feel fully, and to have a sense of purpose in your life. We’re not just here to get through or exist, suffering through until we die. We’re meant to live.

If you resonate with what I’m saying, to stay on a path toward awakening and more conscious, authentic living, it’s vital for you to surround yourself with people on a similar path. And it can help to have a supportive figure who has been walking this path, and leading others along it, for over a decade (or maybe my whole life).
